This kitchen renovation by designer Trudi Rabbitte of Rabbitte Joinery in Hawke’s Bay caters to a working couple in their heritage-style home. From the outset, the client selected Aalto Parma Grey, setting the colour scheme for the design.
To enhance the timeless aesthetic, Trudi introduced brass accents throughout, creating a warm and sophisticated contrast against the soft grey cabinetry. The splashback features textured tiles to add depth and interest, and the cabinetry follows a classic shaker style but with a refined approach.
“Functionality was a key driver in the design. Both clients are tall, so we raised the benchtop height for improved ergonomics. Storage was carefully planned, incorporating benchtop bi-fold pantries on either side of the cooktop. And antique mirrored panels were integrated into the cabinetry to tie in the stainless steel ovens and fridge, ensuring a cohesive material palette.”
