“Our clients purchased an industrial style, two-storey penthouse apartment as an Auckland base, and while the fit-out was tired, there was potential for it to be something special,” says Nicola Manning of Nicola Manning Design.
Two bedrooms and two ensuites were converted into one spacious master suite with access to the large ensuite from both the walk-in robe and bedroom.
A largely monochromatic scheme was specified, with the exposed steel beams painted black. Light grey wall tiles create a spacious feel, and black floor tiles balance the strength of the beams. Bosco Black tiles on the feature wall introduce scale and movement, and are also used as the custom designed vanity top.
The radius on the steel-framed mirror cabinets and the round bath offer contrast to the sharp architectural features. To bring a sense of luxury and texture, the space is further softened with a sheer drape.
