MWF Manufacturing loves to take on the challenge of unique projects, with innovative ideas and outstanding craftsmanship
Founded in 2002 by Gary and Charlotte Altenburg, MWF Manufacturing Ltd has built a strong reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading joinery manufacturers. Based in Christchurch, MWF specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of premium joinery solutions.
MWF has navigated significant challenges, including the Canterbury earthquakes, to emerge stronger and more resilient. Through strategic innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Gary and his team have positioned MWF as a benchmark for world-class joinery manufacturing in New Zealand.
In recent years, MWF Manufacturing has focused on developing award-winning apprentices. The team has earned multiple honours, from top regional and ARA apprentice to recognition at a national level, as awarded in this year’s annual Master Joiners Annual Excellence Awards.
“As part of our strategic plan,” says Gary, “we’re committed to building lasting careers and setting the benchmark for world-class excellence. We take a holistic approach to business, ensuring a supportive environment, encouraging every individual’s and team’s successes, and embracing collaborative relationships with our customers and suppliers.”
Another key goal is to maintain a consistent workflow, ensuring there are no production gaps and a steady stream of projects in progress. This is achieved by having a diverse array of offerings.
For example, in 2020 the introduction of the specialised product line My Little Pub saw, and continues to see, the company design and manufacture tiny pubs. It has reintroduced the craft of true solid timber joinery: a more time-intensive approach that showcases craftsmanship and skill, rather than relying on box construction and modern machinery. “Having so much interest we have just launched the Little Cousin of My Little Pub, a compact version, with all of the atmosphere and joy but enjoyed with a lower price tag,” says Gary.
